East Skichen Wind Cluster
A planning application has been submitted to Angus Council for a 3 turbine wind cluster on farmland 7km to the north-west of Carnoustie, Angus.
The site is located on grazed pasture and benefits from:
- Outside international, national and local designations for landscape
and ecology
- Good wind speeds
- Nearby connection to the electricity grid network
- Convenient site access via an existing trunk road
- Good separation distance between the turbines and local homes. The nearest occupied residential property is 1 kilometre (km) from the closest proposed turbine location
- Wind turbines on the land would co-exist with current agricultural practices
Our proposal comprises 3 wind turbines with a combined maximum output of 3.9 megawatts. A wind cluster of this size would generate enough electricity each year to supply the average domestic needs of 2000 houses (averaged out across the year and taking into account times of low wind speed).
A detailed environmental assessment of the site has been undertaken by independent consultants as part of the planning process. The Environment Report and full details of the planning application are available to view at the council planning offices in Forfar and Monifieth.
